| Alderman Knight School Governing Body consists of a team of eighteen people, seventeen governors and a clerk. Five are Parent Governors, including the current Chairman; these are elected by parents of pupils at the school. There are four County Council appointed governors, four Co-opted Governors, two Teacher Governors, one Staff Governor and the Head teacher. The Governors come from all walks of life in the local community. All are committed to the good governance of the school and the retention of what we consider to be a very special school. The Governing body meets every half term to monitor school progress, make decisions and to provide advice and guidance. To achieve all of the above the body has appointed sub committees to look at the various management aspects of the schools. These committees consist of Premises, Finance, Pay, Discipline, Performance Management and the Curriculum. Governor training takes place once a term on the school premises and Governors can and do attend individual training sessions provided by the Local Education Authority as and when the needs arise. Governors visit the school both formally at least once a term and much more frequently informally. They have assisted the pupils with work experience, interviewing and business skills. Due to the make up of the Alderman Knight Governors the school has extensive links with local firms. Alderman Knight School has links to a number of LEA working groups through the current Chairman who is also a Parent Governor Representative for Special Schools. In this role he represents all parents of children at special schools across the whole of Gloucestershire. It is not all work Governors meet regularly for social events as well; this helps us as a body to perform as an effective team.
